Heritage Court is located on Level One of the CMC Campus.

A series of large bronze plaques present a three dimensional relief of each of the major ethnic pioneer groups that formed the initial non-American Indian population of the USA.

The Foundation offers donors the opportunity to have their name placed under their group’s plaque, for all to see.

Please contact the office to determine how your name can be added to your pioneer group. To capture our immigrant experience in art, Fine Arts Limited commissioned fifteen of the most distinguished artists in America to create a limited edition series of bronze sculptures.

These extraordinary works of art depict the major ethnic groups that entered America through Ellis Island. Each artist is of the heritage represented in his or her work, and each work expresses the dream of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness America has stood for since the beginning.

By good fortune the  Founder's Set of the Series was acquired by the College of the Desert for permanent mounting in Heritage Court, at the Copper Mountain Campus in Joshua Tree. The Statue of Liberty and fourteen national and ethnic groups are represented in these sculptures, each one meticulously crafted in silicone bronze and cast by the shell lost-wax process.

Finish work was performed by artisans of the California Sculpture Center, a world renowned atelier. The Liberty Series bronzes measure 16 x 22 inches each and are permanently mounted to 20 x 30 inch rectangles of polished red granite. These, in turn, are affixed to the pillars in Heritage Court. A matching block of polished red granite, upon which the names of Heritage Court donors will be etched, is affixed beneath each sculpture.

You can help the Copper Mountain College  Foundation build a brighter future for our community by ordering your name etched in granite, beneath the Liberty Series Bas Relief of your choice. Choose one or more that portray your family's unique heritage and reserve a space for your name today!
